Tourist Visa Requirements
- Original, signed U. S. Passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity beyond stay in Afghanistan, with adequate unused visa pages to allow for entry and exit stamps upon arrival and departure from Afghanistan. Note* Amendment pages in the back of your passport are NOT to be used for entry and exit stamps or visa issuance.
- Visa Application Form. Please download, print, sign and NOTARIZE the Visa application.
- 1 Recent Passport-type photograph (2″ x 2″) in color, front view with white background.
- Personal Letter. A personal letter from the applicant addressed to the Embassy of Afghanistan, explaining the purpose of the trip, dates of travel, cities to be visited, and place of accommodation. Include applicant’s full name and passport number. This letter must include an original signature
- Itinerary. Copy of round trip tickets or confirmed itinerary.
Business Visa Requirements
- Original, signed U. S. Passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity beyond stay in Afghanistan, with adequate unused visa pages to allow for entry and exit stamps upon arrival and departure from Afghanistan. Note* Amendment pages in the back of your passport are NOT to be used for entry and exit stamps or visa issuance.
- Visa Application Form. Please download, type, print, sign and NOTARIZE. Hand written form is NOT acceptable.
- 1 Recent Passport-type photograph (2″ x 2″) in color, front view with white background.
- Copy of your Passport information page.
- Copy of your most recent Afghanistan Visa (only if you have previously travel there).
- Itinerary. Attach the round trip reservation or itinerary with the detail of date of entry, exit and the flight numbers.
- Copy of the Certificate of Incorporation, LLC Memorandum and Articles of Association (trade license, proprietorship, partnership documents) Solicitation or contract awarded through federal agencies.
- Please be advised that the Visa Officer may request an interview with the applicants to determine if eligible for the type of visa they are applying.
- Business Letter. A business letter from the sending company in the United States. The letter should be printed on the company letterhead stationery, addressed to “The Consulate of Afghanistan, Visa Section”, and include an original signature of a Vice-President or the President of the company or the application will be denied. The business letter must adhere to the following guidelines:

- Dated and addressed to the Embassy
- Briefly introduce the applicant and specify employment status/position held in the company by applicant.
- Include applicant’s full name, passport number, phone number and email address.
- State the nature of the business to be conducted (ie. business meetings, contract negotiations, etc.) and the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in Afghanistan.
- Specify the Type and desired Validity of the visa (ie. a one year multiple entry business visa).
- The detail address (hotel name,address of stay and the phone number) of the applicant in Afghanistan.
- Assure the status of the applicant’s health records are up to date and included in the introduction letter.
