Tourist Visa Requirements
- Original, signed U. S. Passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity beyond stay in Ethiopia, with adequate unused visa pages to allow for entry and exit stamps upon arrival and departure from Ethiopia. Note* Amendment pages in the back of your passport are NOT to be used for entry and exit stamps or visa issuance.
- Visa Application Form. Please download, print, complete and sign the Visa application.
- 1 Recent Passport-type photograph (2″ x 2″) in color, front view with white background.
- Itinerary. Copy of round trip tickets or confirmed itinerary.
Business Visa Requirements
- Original, signed U. S. - Business Letter. A business letter from the sending company in the US. The letter should be printed on the company letterhead stationery, addressed to “The Consulate of Ethiopia, Visa Section”, and signed by a senior manager (an equivalent to Vice-President or above). The business letter must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Briefly introduce the applicant (please specify employment status/position held in the company by applicant).
- State the nature of the business to be conducted (ie. business meetings, contract negotiations, etc.) and the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in Ethiopia
- Specify the Type and desired Validity of the visa (ie. a one year multiple entry business visa).
- Guarantee of sufficient funds for travel.
- Sample Company Letter of Guarantee
- Business Invitation. An ORIGINAL business invitation letter from the sponsoring company in Ethiopia. The host company in Ethiopia should request the approval letter from Ethiopian Immigration on behalf of the applicant. The letter should be printed on company letterhead stationery, addressed to “Consulate General of Ethiopia, Visa Section”, and signed by a senior manager, Vice-President or above. The business letter must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Briefly introduce the applicant (please specify employment status/position held in the company by applicant).
- State the nature of the business to be conducted (ie. business meetings, contract negotiations, etc.) and the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in Ethiopia.

- VISA APPROVAL LETTER from Ethiopian Immigration.

- State Department Letter. A letter from the Department of State addressed to the Embassy of Ethiopia, Washington DC, explaining the nature and dates of travel. The letter also should indicate the name and passport number of the applicant.
- Itinerary. Copy of round trip tickets or confirmed itinerary.
Tourist E-Visa Requirements
- Passport copy. A copy of your passport that must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you intend to enter Ethiopia.
- Passport Type Photograph. A digital type photopgraph taken within the last 6 months.
- Visa Application Form. Please download, print, complete and sign the Visa application.
Business E-Visa Requirements
- Passport copy. A copy of your passport that must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you intend to enter Ethiopia.

- Business License. Business license of the inviting company.
- Business Invitation. Issued by inviting company/organization to the participant. The invitation letter should describe the conference briefly such as conference name, start date, end date and venue.
- Application Letter. An official application letter written by the inviting organization addressed to the Main Department for Immigration and Nationality Affairs of Ethiopia ans stating that an organization/company has officially requested for visa.
- TIN Certificate. Tax Payer Identification Number Certificate of the company renewed for the fiscal year.
